Starting school

Transitions from home or early childhood centre can be stressful for both children and parents but at Kendal School we believe we have a system that will make the transition to school easier and far less traumatic.

We have developed an innovative and we believe unique system to make the transition as smooth and stress free as possible. This programme has several elements that mesh together to give a smooth entry for your child.

The first is pre-entry visits to the new entrant classroom giving children and parents the chance to get the feel of the class and school.

A comprehensive written enrolment pack is available as well as further data on this page.

Once enrolled we provide a starting school pack which we believe is innovative and unique. This includes a picture book we have written for parents to share with their child about starting school. An activity book, exercise book and pencil so your child feels like a real school child and a starting school guide for you with more information and ideas you can use in the lead up.

Our orientation to school visits held once a week for 3 - 4 weeks just before your child starts school.

We find when all these elements come together the transition is smooth and stress free for parents, children and our school.
